Chapter 8: A New Beginning at Wits
The girls Lulu, Zinhle, Amogelang, Kea, and Bonolo all started their first year at Wits University. They were buzzing with excitement, dressed in their freshest clothes, ready to take on the challenges and adventures of varsity life. Wits was huge and busy a place full of students from all over the country. The campus was alive with energy. The girls spent their days exploring every corner, snapping selfies on the steps of the library, and sharing their stories online. They talked about their dreams, their plans, and all the things they wanted to achieve in the years ahead. They went to orientation events, met new people, and felt like they had stepped into a whole new world. But while the girls were busy living their best lives, there was someone else at Wits. Someone no one really noticed. Themba.
He had quietly enrolled in the law faculty without telling a soul. He didn’t post on social media or join the parties everyone talked about. He didn’t hang out with crowds or try to make friends right away. Instead, he kept to himself. He sat at the back of every lecture, hoodie pulled over his head, watching and listening carefully. His eyes were always focused, always alert. Themba wasn’t there just to learn or to meet new people. Deep down, he was there to get revenge to prove to everyone who doubted him that he was stronger than they thought. But he was also there to work hard. To study. To build a future that no one could take away from him. This was his new start a chance to rewrite his story, far away from the past that had tried to break him. Themba’s mind was sharp, full of plans. He wasn’t just angry he was ready to shake things up in a way no one saw coming.
He started hanging around three guys who were well known at Wits. Rich, popular, good looking the kind of boys everyone wanted to be friends with or date. These guys were smooth talkers, proper players. They knew how to talk, how to laugh, and how to make any girl feel like the only one in the room. Themba called them his “player friends.” They were his secret squad for what he wanted to do next. His plan was clear. Send these three players to Lulu, Zinhle, and Bonolo. Get close to them, charm them, make them trust these boys. Themba wanted the girls to fall for the players, to start catching feelings. He wanted to see their smiles turn into confusion, their fun turn into drama. The players had their game face on ready with sweet words, cheeky smiles, and promises of parties, good times, and maybe more. Themba stayed quiet in the background, watching every move, waiting for the perfect moment to step in. The girls didn’t have a clue. They thought they were just meeting new friends, enjoying some harmless flirting, maybe a bit of romance. But for Themba, it was more than just fun. He was setting the stage for something bigger stirring up drama, using these player friends as his secret weapons to shake up their perfect world.
